Alternative Christmas Tree Festival 1-2 December 2018
From Pam Armitage –
The prizes at the Alternative Christmas Tree Festival in St. Michael’s Church were:
Juniors
!st prize went to Buckland Toddler Group
2nd prize to North Downs School
3rd prize to Brockham Cubs
There was a certificate for each of the junior entries.
Then:
1st overall prize (the Barbara Hawkins Cup) went to Buckland Toddler Group
2nd prize to Betchworth Memorial Hall
3rd The Bellringers
Joint 4th to Broome Park and Pebblecombe WI
Joint 5th The Betchworth Estate and Buckland Choral Society
When I say prizes, there aren’t really any prizes, but I thought that you would like to know how the voting went! The voting was so close with only a few votes between them and even the trees that are not mentioned all got a good number of votes, so again well done to all of you.
Oh yes the knitted tree…. we had guesses from 94 – 975 the actual total was 157 and Barbara Skinner from Brockham guessed the exact number and was the only person to guess 157 so that was lucky!!
We haven’t counted the takings yet but there should be enough for a donation to Great Ormond Street Hospital and a contribution towards church funds.
A huge thank you to everyone who knitted scarves – they will all be sent out to Eastern Europe to keep the elderly warm.
