About our Churches

Rector’s Welcome

Welcome to St. Mary the Virgin Buckland, and St Michael’s Betchworth – The United Benefice of Betchworth and Buckland

Our Churches

We are a blend of the traditional and contemporary, an open, inclusive church linked to the United Benefice of Betchworth and Buckland and Upper Mole Group (Brockham, Leigh, Charlwood and Sidlow). We are a Eucharistic community and through our worship, outreach and personal lives we seek to reveal God’s love in the community we serve.

We welcome you, regardless of age, ethnicity, sexuality or church background, those who are strong in their faith and others who are filled with questions and doubt to journey with us. Together we navigate and explore the fullness of life offered to us through Christ. By Knowing we are loved, we are ready to share our faith with others, to help those in need and seek to build peace and justice in the world.

Both Churches are central to the life of the villages and we are well supported by an active and friendly congregation. Our regular congregations also include many people from neighbouring villages and towns who are made most welcome. We hope that you will, at some time, choose to worship with us and enjoy being part of a part of village life. If you would like to find out any more or would wish to speak to someone about our church please contact the Rector, or Churchwardens.

The churches are open daily and visitors come to the church for a wide range of reasons. Some come for a time of quiet and peace in a busy day, others come on the recommendation of a friend or perhaps to a wedding service, a baptism or a funeral. We are pleased when such visitors return and find that they can worship regularly with us and become part of the community.

Do use this site to understand more about who we are and what we do – better still come and find out for your self by visiting the Church.
